SW Florida gives people opportunities to see many kinds of wildlife. Florida probably contains the greatest variety and amount of wildlife in the nation and people come from all over the world to watch and view the more than 350 species of birds that migrate and live here year round. Some of Florida’s notable wildlife species are the American Alligator, White Egret, Great Blue Heron, and freshwater Large Mouth Bass. The Florida Panther once roamed for hundreds of miles in Florida and the Southeastern U.S. but is endangered now because it’s habitat has been lost.
Visit the Florida Fish & Wildlife Service Conservation Commission website and read about our wildlife parks and refuges and hunting and fishing regulations.
